I get to witness it happening, and though this process, I am also healed and given messages.<\/p>\n<p>One of the archetypes in my work is Rabbit Woman. She has a funny beginning, in a floor tile. It&#8217;s so fun to find recognizable faces or shapes in random splotches.<\/p>\n<p>This particular splotch was like a odd little man with rabbit ears, a bit angry or uptight. I grabbed my sketchbook and drew him with charcoal while sitting on the toilet seat. In <em>Rabbit Man<\/em>, I take the image a bit further using watercolor and tissue paper.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 505px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/19-photographs\" ><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5181e760e4b04f94760cb317\/51832db8e4b0046126d0409f\/5327e466e4b07a87f2c76fd5\/1395124422178\/Rabbit%2BMan_1600_72.jpg?w=900\" alt=\"Rabbit Man, 2010, Mixed Media\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rabbit Man, 2010, Mixed Media<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"yui_3_10_1_1_1395119003541_69402\">I played with this image again in Rabbit Queen, which is actually a self portrait. I love how the colors and texture turned out in this piece.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_10_1_1_1395119003541_64220\">It took a while for Rabbit to settle down. &nbsp;My mother called me &#8220;bunny&#8221; when I little (actually she still does, shhh), and it&#8217;s funny to look at these early images and see how they are rebellious, with something to prove. I am NOT a bunny. Like a teenager.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 581px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/19-photographs\" ><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5181e760e4b04f94760cb317\/51832db8e4b0046126d0409f\/5327e725e4b0bbf6a453045a\/1395124390942\/Rabbit%2BQueen_1600_72.jpg?w=900\" alt=\"Rabbit Queen, 2010, Mixed Media\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rabbit Queen, 2010, Mixed Media<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But soon the tender vulnerability of Rabbit Woman started to emerge, the child hiding, often interacting with other archetypes. In <em>Rabbit&#8217;s Journey<\/em>, Rabbit is led along by Horse Women, in some sort of initiation, one that is not quite wanted.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5181e760e4b04f94760cb317\/51832db8e4b0046126d0409f\/5327e865e4b0ba32c2420492\/1395124361580\/\/img.jpg?w=900\" alt=\"Rabbit's Journey, 2011, Mixed Media\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rabbit&#8217;s Journey, 2011, Mixed Media<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"yui_3_10_1_1_1395119003541_89546\">In <em>Rabbit Looks at Death<\/em>, Horse Woman is a skeleton, and Rabbit Woman (more like a child), regards her, inert and powerless. <\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 582px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/19-photographs\" ><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5181e760e4b04f94760cb317\/51832db8e4b0046126d0409f\/5327eabee4b0fc82b94ce12a\/1395124997144\/\/img.jpg?w=900\" alt=\"Rabbit Looks at Death, 2011, Mixed Media\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rabbit Looks at Death, 2011, Mixed Media<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I used part of this image in <em>Going West<\/em>, a digital drawing about moving from New York to California in the summer of 1976 in an old orange station wagon my mother named Ethel.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1399px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"\/digital\" ><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5181e760e4b04f94760cb317\/51832db8e4b0046126d0409f\/5327ebc9e4b09aa77d072f44\/1395125253686\/ethel%2Bresized%2B8%2Bby%2B10_1600_72.jpg?w=900\" alt=\"Going West, 2012, Digital\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Going West, 2012, Digital<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A moment of emotion came while working in the artist journal I was creating as part of my masters research. In this quick drawing, Rabbit Woman has succeeding in coaxing a large bird of prey to land on her gloved arm. Horse Woman and another archetype, Stag Woman, watch on in parental pride. Creating this image was unexpectedly emotional. I felt seen, accepted.
